Light-induced static magnetization: Nonlinear Edelstein effect

چکیده
Light can interact with magnetism in materials. Motivated by the Edelstein effect, whereby a static electric field generate magnetization metals, this work we theoretically and computationally demonstrate that also be generated through light semiconductors. Such an effect is essentially second-order nonlinear response considered as generalization of effect. This (NLEE) applies to semiconductors under both linearly circularly polarized light, there are no constraints from either spatial inversion or time-reversal symmetry. With ab initio calculations, reveal several prominent features NLEE. We find light-induced orbital magnetizations significantly greater than spin magnetizations, contrast standard intrinsic where magnetic moment strongly quenched crystal field. show multilayer (multisublattice) materials, different ferromagnetic ferrimagnetic structures realized photon pumping, depending on interlayer (intersublattice) It possible switch ordering antiferromagnetic The relationship between NLEE other magneto-optic effects, including inverse Faraday Cotton-Mouton discussed.

Static magnetization induced by time-periodic fields with zero mean
We consider a single spin in a constant magnetic field or an anisotropy field. We show that additional external time-periodic fields with zero mean may generate nonzero time-averaged spin components which are vanishing for the time-averaged Hamiltonian. The reason is a lowering of the dynamical symmetry of the system. A harmonic signal with proper orientation is enough to display the effect. We...
متن کاملStatic-static-light-light tetraquarks in lattice QCD
I report on a lattice computation of the energy of a system of two light quarks and two static antiquarks as a function of the separation of the static antiquarks. In terms of hadrons such a system corresponds to a pair of B mesons and its energy to the hadronic potential. I present selected results for different isospin, spin and parity combinations of the individual B mesons mainly focusing o...
متن کاملIn-plane magnetization-induced quantum anomalous Hall effect.
The quantum Hall effect can only be induced by an out-of-plane magnetic field for two-dimensional electron gases, and similarly, the quantum anomalous Hall effect has also usually been considered for systems with only out-of-plane magnetization. In the present work, we predict that the quantum anomalous Hall effect can be induced by in-plane magnetization that is not accompanied by any out-of-p...
متن کاملThe vectorial control of magnetization by light
Application of coherent light-matter interactions has recently been extended to the ultrafast control of magnetization. An important but unrealized technique is the manipulation of magnetization vector motion to make it follow an arbitrarily designed multidimensional trajectory. Here we demonstrate a full manipulation of two-dimensional magnetic oscillations in antiferromagnetic NiO with a pair...
